Happy 80th Birthday Mom

My Mom had a big birthday on January 20th, she turned 80 years old. I would have loved to be there but it just wasn't possible.

She had a great birthday dinner with family and friends. Her back seems to be ok after her two surgeries last year.

Baby Shower for Fran

We didn't have any Winter weather until the Sunday we had the Baby Shower. Freezing Rain! Anybody can drive in snow, but ice is a different matter. We moved the shower from noon to 11 am, were done at 1:30 pm, and everybody arrived back home safely! Denise of Porters Pub did a wonderful job, and a great time was had by everybody.

Fran, 5 more weeks to go!

Coming Full Circle

I met with a new  customer today. She invited me to come to her house and take pictures of a quilt  she bought in 2001 at an auction at our High School.

My son was attending St. Charles North at that time. I think I made the quilt for the music department auction. It was a  Stack'n'Whack pattern with the High School logo. My friend Nancy had just shown me how to do 'bobbin' work with silver ribbon.

I had cut out the fabrics, then realizing the pieces were all wrong. I had to go back to the store to get more fabrics the next day. I was brave enough to ask if they were looking for help. I was hired! This is how my 'Quilt Shop Odyssey' started. I worked there for 9 years, then started my Longarm Business 3 years ago! And loving it!

Karen Flood is donating the quilt back to the school.

Happy 2013!

We had a very nice Christmas Eve with Family. I'm finishing up my very last customer quilt for 2012. It's my friend Leanne's Christmas Quilt. I'm either a year ahead, but most likely a year behind with this quilt.  Happy New Year!

Christmas is Here!

I delivered the last of my 'to be finished by Christmas' quilt to the customer today! My life was terribly hectic between Houston Quilt Market and yesterday, not counting the two week toothache and root canal! But, I also had a wonderful four day break for quilting retreat, lots of laughter, sewing and good homemade food. I was able to finish four baby quilt tops, four customer bindings, and I even pieced a customer quilt at retreat.

Tomorrow is Christmas Eve, my favorite day of the year. I love our decorated Christmas tree, the opening of gifts with family. I wish we had a second relaxing Christmas day like we have in Germany. Next year we'll have two new family members, a grandson and Casey, our soon to be daughter-in-law. Fran and Luke are expecting their son in March, and, John and Casey will get married in September. Lots of excitement coming in 2013!

Here is a sampling of pictures of these past two months:
