Houston Quilt Market

I arrived in Houston today, and the weather is wonderful. It's back to summer, although it's always a little bit (!) humid here. I will not be able to post pictures from Quilt Market until I get back home on Tuesday (no laptop with me). I'm very excited about taking two long arm classes on Monday, one with Sue Patten, the other one with Jamie Wallen. Looking forward to School House and Sample Spree tomorrow. Elvira

Salzburg - Oesterreich

Salzburg is only about two hours from Muenchen. It is surrounded by the most beautiful countryside: mountains, the 'Hohensalzburg', a gigantic fortress, almost like a complete village on top of the mountain, accessible by a funicular; Mozart was born in Salzburg. The weather was beautiful, and we took the 'Sound of Music Tour' which we thoroughly enjoyed. Bernie (Bernhard) was our tour guide! The tour ventured out of the city proper of Salzburg, and the countryside was so gorgeous! Unfortunately my camera's battery died.

Muenchner Oktoberfest

Yes, we had to experience the real Oktoberfest! Fran, Luke, Casey and John bought authentic Lederhosen and Dirndls to blend in with the crowd. I felt like an outsider even though I was the authentic German in the group. We stayed in a hotel in Starnberg right across the train station. We hopped on the S Bahn at 8 am heading to Muenchen with all the other crazy people. We were able to get into the Hofbraeu Haus tent, and at 9 am had our first beer with a giant bretzel. A completely insane place!!!! Dieter joined us in the afternoon. By 3 pm we were ready to head back to the hotel stepping over the beer casualties.
